Before we left to explore the world we were told not to go soul searching or to expect any major revelations and we would not suddenly find all of life’s answers. The plan all along was to just go and enjoy the ride. Which we certainly did! However, it has been kind of life changing for us…

I now know for a fact I can’t go back to the rat race. Not that there is anything wrong in it but I personally just don’t feel rewarded by earning big money to buy lots of stuff. So how the hell do you afford to live without going to work? It is true that you do need a level of income to feel comfortable in life, I’m not going to pretend that I don’t enjoy some home comforts. So how can you just quit work and still get what you need? Well I haven’t figured that one out yet! But we have made several life changes to make sure that we no longer feel we are held at ransom by society.

Firstly, we met many inspirational people whilst we were away that have given us the courage to try and set up our own business’. G now has his own carpentry company and I’m also looking into being my own boss. Online of course so that I can continue to be anywhere in the world.
We will have to wait and see how those ventures pan out but in the meantime, we are working hard on getting our outgoings as low as possible so that we can at least work less if stopping all together isn’t an option. We are not replacing any of the stuff we got rid of before we left to go globetrotting. I’m doing my best to rely on public transport (and my own two feet) and we are purchasing a brand new narrowboat hull to finish-up ourselves to live a life afloat (watch this space for our narrowboat renovation!)

Whilst travelling our minds, soul and body were active again. Every minute was new and exciting. We wanted to learn so much about where we were, the history and the people, culture, food, everything. Life became enthralling rather than just exhausting. Hopefully these life changes will mean we can continue to pursue a love of travel as now we are pretty much hooked on a life worth living!
What small thing could you change to achieve something you’ve always dreamt of?
